Meet The Team – Rob Palin

Rob Palin joined BoxLogic Consultants in September 2022 as a Senior Consultant.

We have been very excited to welcome Rob to the team as he comes with an impressive background in third-party logistics. He’s delivered many operational and digital transformation projects across a range of sectors in his ten year’s of experience.

Rob tells us a little more about himself here!

Where is home?

I live in a small village called Alrewas, around 30 mins from Birmingham.

How long have you been working in logistics?

I’ve worked in 3rd party Logistics for 10+ years. My clients were based across the UK from the South Coast to the North East.

What is your logistics specialism?

I specialise in Operations and Project Management; particularly in continuous improvement, lean methodologies and digital transformations.

What was your dream career as a child?

From as young as I can remember I wanted to be an artist, and later an art teacher.

How did you end up in Logistics then?

I started my career in retail and progressed through to store management. This, however, comes with risks; and after experiencing two armed robberies whilst having a young family at home I decided that retail was not for me.

I then took a role as a temporary warehouse operative and LOVED the industry, so worked from the bottom to develop myself to where I am today.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest professional achievement was helping to deliver a transformed Home Delivery Service for the NHS; delivering vital supplies to patients at home and in care homes.

But my proudest personal achievement was supporting one of my art students in his very first public exhibit.

Favourite place on earth?

Iceland. From hunting the Northern Lights to snowmobiling up a gigantic glacier. It’s the most amazing place I’ve ever experienced, and I cannot wait to go back.

I then took a role as a temporary warehouse operative and LOVED the industry, so worked from the bottom to develop myself to where I am today.

How do you like to unwind?

Art. Everything from sketching portraits through to creating bespoke hand-painted footwear. For stress relief and unwinding, there is nothing better than putting on a podcast and sitting for a few hours to create something beautiful.

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Greek! Give me Saganaki and a Mythos and I’m a happy man.

Who is your idol?

This is tough. I don’t think I have an individual idol, rather, having many people that I idolise certain expertise or traits.

My Dad, the kindest man I know. Jocko Willink, one of the greatest examples of a leader that you will ever see. David Goggins and his power to overcome physical struggles with mental fortitude. Alan Watts and his curiosity of all cultures, religions and philosophies. I could go on forever.

What was your first single or album?

Smash Hits 2000 (don’t judge me).

What is something most work colleagues don’t know about you?

I’m a qualified tattoo artist.

Why did you decide to join BoxLogic?

The people and culture. I could see immediately that this was a great group of people to work with, to learn from and to develop myself further amongst some true industry experts.
